Looks like Ingo wrote a new scheduler. I remember compiling the 2.6 kernel as soon as the O(1) scheduler was available just to see if I could feel a difference. I recall wanting to feel it but I'm not sure it was that noticeable. Still cool to see what's going on under the hood. The Completely Fair Scheduler sounds interesting.
